In this blog post, I’ll walk you through the ingredients you’ll need to get the best taste and texture in your protein pudding. Plus, I’ve included a couple of recipe variations to work with your dietary needs.
Why You’ll Love Protein Pudding
Protein pudding is a healthier way to satisfy your sweet cravings without consuming extra added sugar. It is made with flavored protein powder and velvety yogurt, with a dessert-like texture and taste.
Moreover, it’s straightforward to prepare as it involves just two ingredients and takes less than 90 seconds to make. You can even make a larger batch and store it in the fridge for pre-made snacks throughout the week.
The best part? You can experiment with different flavors and combinations to keep things interesting and exciting.

The cereal marshmallows in this protein pudding make me feel like a kid again.
Protein Pudding Recipe
This protein pudding recipe provides the ingredients and amounts to help you get the perfect protein powder and yogurt ratio.
Ingredients
- Whole Milk Plain Greek Yogurt – I recommend using unflavored full-fat Greek yogurt for a thicker and creamier texture for this recipe. Whole milk Greek yogurt has low carbs and zero added sugars, making it ideal for a healthy snack. Generic brands work fine, but I’ve found that Chobani Greek Yogurt is the fluffiest.
- Flavored Whey Protein Powder – I suggest using whey protein powder because it mixes into Greek yogurt better than casein or plant-based proteins. Also, you can’t beat the taste of whey protein. I used GHOST Marshmallow Cereal Milk Whey Protein Powder for this recipe, but you can use whatever brand and flavor you like.

How to Make It
Once you have your ingredients picked out, it’s time to make the protein pudding. Here are the steps and amounts of each ingredient to use.
- Measure the Greek Yogurt – I used a full cup of Greek yogurt for this recipe, equivalent to 226 grams. I find weighing the yogurt is easier and doesn’t make a mess of your measuring cups. Place a bowl on your kitchen scale, zero it, and select grams for the units. Then, spoon yogurt into the bowl until you get the desired weight.
- Add the Protein Powder – Scoop the desired amount of protein powder from the tub and add it to the bowl. I recommend using one scoop of protein per cup of yogurt. For example, if you used 3/4 cup (170 g) of yogurt, you should add roughly 3/4 of a scoop of protein.
- Stir Until Evenly Mixed – The last step is stirring the protein powder into the yogurt. Start by slowly folding the yogurt over the powder to avoid making a mess. Then, stir vigorously until all the powder is mixed into the yogurt.

Macros & Calories
At this point, you might be wondering how much protein, carbs, and fat are in this protein pudding.
Here are the macros and calories as prepared with 1 cup of yogurt & 1 scoop of protein powder:
- 46 grams protein (51% of calories)
- 14 grams carbs (16% of calories)
- 2 g added sugar
- 13 grams fat (33% of calories)
- 357 calories
Protein Pudding Variations
The protein pudding recipe I shared is intended to be a low-carb snack, but it’s not necessarily keto-friendly. Additionally, the high-fat content of whole Greek yogurt makes it pretty calorie-dense.
So here are some modifications you can use to make a protein pudding recipe that fits your nutrition needs.
Keto Protein Pudding
Low-fat and flavored Greek yogurts typically have more carbs and sugar. So it would be best to stick with the whole milk plain variety to keep carbs as low as possible.
Next, look for a basic flavored protein powder with the lowest sugar and carbs. For example, I use Nutricost Chocolate Whey Protein Powder with just 3 grams of carbs and 2 grams of sugar per scoop.
Finally, you may need a lower ratio of yogurt to protein in the pudding to keep the total carbs down. For example, one scoop of whey with 2/3 of a cup of yogurt.
Low-Calorie Protein Pudding
If you’re on a weight loss plan, I recommend using a nonfat plain Greek yogurt to reduce calories. You can also use smaller portions to ensure you don’t exceed your daily calorie target.
Flavor Options
When it comes to protein pudding, the taste options are endless, and it doesn’t have to stop with the protein powder flavor. You can also add toppings like fruit, nuts, or whatever else you want.
